Individual Assignment #1
Part 1 Major Characters -Liesel Meminger -Rosa Hubermann -Hans Hubermann -Rudy Steiner Minor Characters -Paula Meminger- This character affect Liesel she decided to put her in a foster home instead of keeping her with her. Paula was
Liesel's mother and always got sick. So she decided it would be better for Liesel if she was in a foster home. This is how Paula affected Liesel. She also affects the Hubermanss because she gave them Liesel. -Death (narrator)- Death affects the characters because he gives us multiple points of views from his own to Han's to Rosa's and to Liesel's. This is how Death affects the major characters. You don't consider death a main character? -Werner Meminger- This is Liesel's little brother that died on the train. He haunts Liesel in her dreams until Hans wakes her. This is how he affects Liesel. -Frau Heinrich- This was the person who coordinated the switch of Liesel into the Hubermann's care. This is how she affected a main character. -Tommy Muller- Tommy Muller is described as the "Twitchy" kid and one of Liesel's only friends.
Part 2
I think the decision I disagree with the most is sending Liesel to live the Hubermann's. I think that Liesel deserved a loving mother that did not abuse her and call her names. I think she should have stayed with her real mother because she would have loved Leisel no matter what. But I somewhat agree with this decision because her mother got sick all the time and could die at anytime. But living with foster parents is hard even though Hans loves Leisel so much. i think that this was a bad decision because it is hard to change to a unknown place and people. This is why i disagree with this decision.
Part 3
I think this story changes my thinking in many ways. One way is that it changed my mind on how hard it is to live in Germany at this time. You have to be the perfect German or something bad could happen. It has alos changed my thinking that all stories should either be third, first or second person. This idea of death narrating the story is really different. It is a first person view of another person, which i think is really nice. This is how this story has changed my thinking.
Yes, having death as a narrator is definitely unusual. I think it takes the reader a few chapters before he or she realizes it. Interesting reflections...always proof before posting. You would have caught typos, run-on, and other grammar errors.
